And Off We Go

The last day in Dallas was hectic, exciting, and a bit sad.  Leaving your loved ones is never easy.

(So here it is, first to Pam, the best partner one could have hoped for, for her love and support throughout all my crazy and wild projects and adventures ... to Alexandra for being there, her joy of life, and for always reminding me what the meaning of life is ... to Christian for always being a beacon for what is good.) ... OK enough of this : )

After a nice dinner at the Centurion Club at DFW, we got on our way to London.  Uneventful flight.

London brought memories of when we lived here. It is amazing how much we keep in our heads without knowing all that is in there.  Stuff that can only be recalled haphazardly when a sight or a sound or a smell triggers it ... memories of our children when they were 2 and 4 ... memories of the cold damp winters ... memories of Pam learning to drive a stick shift in the streets of London.

It is so energizing to be in a place where, literally, the world meets ... people from all over the world shopping, traveling, eating, smiling, hugging.  Met a nice Japanese lady in the typical Heathrow purple "help-a-lost-soul" uniform that helped me find a BA agent to get a better seat on my flight to Cape Town and a friendly agent from Goa to practice my limited Portuguese with ... all with a smile as they went about their daily lives.

We spent a few hours at the Aspire airport lounge ... good food, drinks, naps, more food ... and then boarded our plane to Cape Town.

Ahh, good old, messy Heathrow!
